| Medical tattooing (also called dermal micropigmentation) consists of introducing pigments in to skin.
The method is used to mask blemishes and marks. In particular it is useful to hide leucoderma lesions. It can also be used to mark margins of lips, eyelids etc. The pigments used are a combination of iron salts and they are inserted in to the skin using a special pigment enhancer.
